To my dog:

You know? you are old, stubborn, lazy and senile. when you were young, you liked pissing and shitting all around the house when we are not around. When you are old and senile, you can't remember where to piss or sometimes you just can't hold it in. you have serious skin problems and you make me worry every now and then. i still remember the times when you chewed through the sofa, chewed a few of my earphones, destroyed some of my stuff. I was angry, but never for long for you would use your innocent lil stare on me.

Despite all this shit you put me through, I'm still thankful for you being here. After a long day, you are always there to greet me at the door. No one would ever welcome me home as enthusiastically as you do. It brightens my day up when i see you wagging your lil tail, jumping up trying to lick me. When i feel like i'm all alone, you make it less lonelier.

I know sometimes i neglect you a little but you will always forgive me. I love how you jump up on me when i come home after two nights of staying out. I love how you get jealous when you smell the scent of other animals on me. you make me feel important. and maybe you are the only one who can make me feel that i'm the most important person in your life.

throughout my life, i had to stand up for myself and protect myself. You, being so tiny, tried to protect me when you thought someone wanted to impose harm on me. Maybe it was the first time i felt that i'm actually cared for.

I have a million things i want to thank you for, but i can't seem to articulate it right now. perhaps a hug or a pat on the head is way better than saying it out.

its scary how long you've been with me. i can't hide from the truth that your life is nearing an end but i still hope that you can stay with me for as long as possible. if you are gone, i'll have to start to fend for myself on my own again. so stay with me and pardon my selfishness. i.l.y
